6x6: "The Powder Room"

  • Newport Art Museum 76 Bellevue Avenue Newport, RI, 02840 United States (map)
The Newport Art Museum in partnership with Rhode Island Teaching Artist Center (RITAC) will host “The Powder Room”, a "6x6" event. This is a fast-paced educational event featuring six teaching artists presenting for six minutes on a given topic. Loosely modeled on the worldwide PechaKucha phenomenon, 6x6 is a great opportunity to meet new people and think about a provocative topic related to the arts, education, and teaching artistry. Inspired by the Newport Art Museum's "Domestic Affairs: Domesticity, Identity, and the Home" exhibition (on exhibit until May 6, 2018), individuals presenting in 6x6: "The Powder Room" will discuss how feminism, empowerment, and female identity connects to their art, teaching practice, and professional careers. Featured guest speakers: Kara Dunne Priscilla Carrion Abby Donaldson The Woman Project - Jocelyn Foye Gail Ahlers GirlsRock! RI - Rachel Blumberg     This event is FREE. Registration recommended. To reserve tickets via RITAC, click here . You may also register for FREE through the museum's eventbrite page .
